Scanning and Capture

Whether small flat artwork, that can fit on an 11″x17″ reflective artwork scanner or negatives or transparencies up to 8″x10″ or 35mm slides, we have the capability to scan these into the computer as high resolution digital files.

Much of the real work begins, however after the scan.  Although the machines do an excellent job and in some cases can automatically clean up much of dust, dirt and scratches, there is always some amount of cleanup that must be done to the files. In some cases, this can be quite extensive, especially with film scans.

There is usually a certain amount of color matching to the original, or in the case of older pieces, correction of color casts from aging and deterioration of one sort or another.

Flatbed scans from reflective art start at $15.00 for one and are discounted lower in quantity.  For $10.00 the file(s) will be burned to CD or DVD for you. This does not include any cleanup, color correction or restoration which is billed at $75.00 per hour.

Film scans are a bit more complex to price as the difficulty in getting a good scan varies with the type, size and quality of the film.

35mm color slides are the easiest and are also $15.00 for one and are also discounted for quantity. This does not include any cleanup, color coprrection or restoration which is billed at $75.00 per hour.

Larger pieces of film, say 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 (6x6cm) or 2 1/4 x 3 (6x9cm) start at $20.00

4×5 film starts at $30.00

Some color negative film provides greater challenges to match color and that matching would be charged for hourly.
